The 3M (TM) Cubitron (TM) II flap disc 967A offers an excellent removal rate in low to medium pressure applications. Our discs are ideal for flat areas or outside edges, especially when surface quality and edge stability are important. Use the 3M (TM) Cubitron (TM) II flap disc 967A for higher stock removal and a flexible flap design that allows sanding and blending in one step. Our flap discs contain 3M precision-formed abrasive grain, which enables exceptionally high stock removal with less contact pressure. This abrasive grain forms triangular points that cut the metal rather than gouge or "plow through" like conventional abrasives. These points break off and sharpen themselves continuously, enabling extremely fast cutting. This allows the user to perform tasks such as grinding out weld seams and edges, removing rust and blending and deburring with less effort. Thanks to the heat-activated grinding aid integrated on the wheel, the grinding wheel is ideal for all types of metal. This aid ensures cooler grinding on stainless steel and heat-sensitive metals such as nickel alloys or titanium, reduces tarnishing and oxidation of the metal and also reduces the likelihood of heat-induced stress cracking. A uniquely designed heavy Y viscose backing allows for controlled, even wear without premature dulling or smoothing. This allows users to produce more with one wheel. Flap discs are three-dimensional abrasive discs consisting of overlapping, abrasive-coated, fiber-reinforced flaps that fan out from a central hub. As the overlapping layers of lamellae wear down, lamellae with fresh abrasive mineral are continuously exposed. This enables fast and even sanding and the padding of the flaps produces a homogeneous surface quality. Under normal conditions, our flap discs produce a finish that is one step finer than the finish of a fiber disc of the same quality. Their overlapping design allows more abrasive material to be applied to the cut surface, making them far superior to typical abrasive wheels. For this reason, our wheels enable a significant increase in productivity in sanding processes. They perform two tasks in a single step, grinding and finishing, and can therefore replace bonded abrasive and fiber discs.
