3M (TM) Stikit (TM) Paper Disc Rolls 426U are multiple sanding discs on a roll for easy use in demanding production environments and are ideal for sanding white wood, roughening sealers and finishing solid surfaces or surfaces where a fine surface finish is particularly important. The wheel itself features silicon carbide abrasives with a dust-repellent coating and open grit, which together ensure less clogging. We opted for a fast-release silicon carbide abrasive, which produces a smoother finish than aluminum oxide or garnet abrasives and is efficient when finishing hardwoods and solid surfaces. Featuring a lightweight A-paper backing with pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA), this disc can flex with the backing pad and glide over contours for a perfect surface finish. The adhesive keeps the disc firmly in place during use and can be changed quickly and easily during multiple sanding and finishing passes. These discs are suitable for rotary sanders and random orbital sanders. Applications include sanding, finishing, blending, smoothing surfaces, paint preparation and sanding untreated wood. If dust cannot clog the cutting edge of the abrasives, sanding discs provide stronger and faster removal. Clogging occurs when wood or lacquer dust clogs the surface of the disc and the abrasive grains. This can quickly make the disc inefficient. Open grit means that there is more space between the abrasive grains, allowing dust and dirt to collect in the gaps instead of clogging the disc. Open grit also provides more aggressive stock removal for faster results than closed grit abrasives of the same grit size. Silicon carbide is a very sharp-edged, synthetic abrasive commonly used for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation, white wood sanding and finishing work.
