3M Xtract (TM) backing pads hold a 3M Xtract washer (sold separately) and are well suited for applications that require conformability and a flexible edge. Part of the 3M Xtract series designed for optimal dust extraction. The backing pads allow an extraction unit to extract dust from a workpiece to improve tool life and productivity. The backing pad has a tapered edge that is ideal for roughening or blending to match a painted area to the rest of the workpiece. The medium density foam provides some conformability for the later stages of surface sanding. And thanks to the 3M (TM) Hookit (TM) quick-change system, you benefit from a hook-and-loop attachment that allows you to quickly change and reuse discs and optimize their service life. Using a dust extractor and a 3M Xtract (TM) sanding disc, dust is drawn away from the sanding surface through the uniquely designed holes and channels, preventing the disc from clogging, increasing productivity and ensuring a cleaner working environment. The sanding disc has external threads that are compatible with an orbital or random orbital sander. Our patented multihole perforation, together with an extraction system, ensures that dust is removed from the disc, the workpiece and the air. When dust cannot clog the cutting edge of the abrasives, sanding paper discs provide stronger and faster stock removal. The 3M Xtract discs are designed for optimal dust extraction, so reducing the amount of dust is now easier than ever. Use this disc together with a 3M Xtract backing pad and a random orbital sander with dust extraction (both sold separately) to ensure optimal dust extraction. The patented multi-hole perforation on our 3M Xtract products removes dust faster than products with five or six holes. This hole design does not even need to be aligned with the holes of the backing pad (which attaches to the random orbital sander and is sold separately). This allows for quick and easy disk changes. The 3M Hookit quick change system has a hook and loop attachment that makes disc changes quick and easy. All this ensures higher productivity and lower material consumption.
