The backing pads allow an extraction unit to suck dust from a workpiece to improve tool life and productivity. Use this backing pad with coarse grits when good leveling is required. For aggressive surface sanding Our 3M Xtract (TM) backing pads with a slim design are made from firm density foam and have a blunt 35 degree tapered edge for added durability. They are ideal for aggressive surface grinding. The science of dust management Our patented multihole perforation, together with an extraction system, ensures that dust is removed from the disc, the workpiece and the air. When dust cannot clog the cutting edge of the abrasives, sanding paper discs provide stronger and faster stock removal.
